Lying Pug

2003
Reddish drawing
43 x 61 cm
On request

After François Boucher’s “L’Odalisque” from 1745 – The Reclining Pug is a precursor of the work “Fortunée-En Chaleur” by Mathias Waske. The table, teapot and jewellery faithfully adhere to Boucher’s original. But Josephine Beauharnai’s head has already been replaced by that of her jealous pug on her wedding night.
